The University of Notre Dame has established Research Core Facilities to enhance and facilitate research by providing university investigators access to specialized equipment and technology. The Genomics & Bioinformatics Core Facility (GBCF) offers research investigators access to genomic technology and bioinformatics support. We service members of the Department of Biological Sciences, Harper Cancer Research Institute, and support work associated with Eck Institute for Global Health and Environmental Change Initiative. With the volume of data created, The Center for Research Computing (CRC) relieves the constraints associated with the expanding data storage needs and analysis challenges all of our researchers face. For those conducting biomedical research, Indiana University, Purdue University, and University of Notre Dame have developed the Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). See Notre Dame's Indiana CTSI page for more details and resources created to support and address the challenges of translating laboratory research into clinical trials.
The Genomics Core Facility is dedicated to providing high-quality service and offering flexible options that allow personalized service to our users. The Genomics Core Services include Illumina MiSeq Sequencing, Sanger Sequencing, Fragment Analysis, Microarrays, and Nucleic Acid Preparation. In addition to Illumina MiSeq Sequencing platform, additional services for Illumina HiSeq sequencing platform are available through various collaborative facilities.
The Genomics Core Facility works to develop analysis training and resources for our research community. In the past, the Genomics Core Facility has sponsored a RAD-tag and RNAseq semester course, basic training focused on how to process data sets. To inquire about future workshops, please contact us. We seek to meet your needs; suggestions are most welcome.
To purchase products and services from the Genomics Core Facility and other University core facilities and shared resources, please visit Core Ordering and Reporting Enterprise System (CORES), a highly flexible and robust web-based software system for maximizing efficient core facility management. “CORES is operated and maintained by Notre Dame Research as part of its mission to grow, strengthen, promote, and safeguard the research enterprise at the University of Notre Dame.”
